LES NUBIANS (CAMEROON / FRANCE / USA)
LES NUBIANS are artists that have become recognized for their unique Afro-European neo-soul sound & style. Les Nubians have been able to mix and match musical elements and cultural experiences, with a strong underlying hip-hop foundation. This mix is rooted in multiple strands of the African Diaspora and reflects the many facets of MTN BUSHFIRE’s overall programming!
BLACK JESUS EXPERIENCE (Australia)
Black Jesus Experience blend traditional Ethiopian music with modern hip-hop and funk grooves. Their rhymes & chimes deliver the musical strength and beauty of Africa through the vocal prism of hip-hop and the freedom of jazz.
BONGEZIWE MABANDLA (South Africa)
Two-time SAMA nominee, Bongeziwe Mabandla has been making waves at home and overseas with his perfect blend of urban-African folk. He has performed at festivals in Germany and Spain, as well as opening for the likes of Joss Stone during her South African tour.
Since their formation in 2004, the Turkish indie pop band 123 has been dazzling audiences with their intriguing stories and dreamy melodies. 123 are proudly supported by the Turkish Embassy in Mozambique.
BANDA KAKANA (Mozambique)
Banda Kakana has become a leading representative of a new generation of Mozambican bands, following in the celebrated footsteps of groups like Ghorwane, Eyuphuro and Orquestra Marrabenta Star of Mozambique.
SHORTSTRAW (SOUTH AFRICA)
Shortstraw are an indie-pop band from Johannesburg. Having taken South Africa by storm with radio hit after hit - the group's infectious summer-inspired music is the ideal festival vibe.
THE SOIL (SOUTH AFRICA)
The Soil is a South African a cappella 3-member group who blend contemporary township style, an eclectic mix of urban contemporary, beat box and soul to create a new sound they call "Kasi Soul".
Cassper Nyovest (South Africa)
(SWAZILAND / MOZAMBIQUE / MALAWI / SOUTH AFRICA)
Swazi groove master Tlale Makhene is recognised as Swaziland’s leading percussionist/composer. His prolific career has included producing and performing on over 300 jazz and world music album collaborations. Tlale Makhene will be joined on stage by acclaimed musicians Helder Gonzaga (Mozambique), Erik Paliani (Malawi) , Bernice Boikanyo (SA) and Thando Matsebula (SA). This regional music collaboration is sponsored by ProHelvetia.
BCUC (SOUTH AFRICA)
Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness (BCUC) consists of seven musicians from Soweto, South Africa. BCUC moves the audience both physically and emotionally with a sound derived straight from our ancestral lineage.
SWEET SWEET MOON (Austria)
Sweet Sweet Moon, is multi-instrumentalist Matthias Frey. Starting from a traditional guitar singer songwriter approach he has now accomplished the integration his great skillset creating almost orchestral arrangements live on stage merely relying on a violin and his favorite sidekick – the loop pedal.
Joana Serrat (Spain)
Inspired by American roots musicians including Roy Orbison, Neil Young and Bob Dylan; singer-songwriter Joana Serrat from Barcelona, joins us this year to showcase her original blend of folk music.

DJ InviZable & the Champions of the Sonarverse
DJ inviZAble and The Champions of the Sonarverse represents the ultimate battle between good and evil in a world not all too different from our own. Featuring the musical talents of Nick Matthews (Gazelle), Dubmasta China, Yolanda Xashi, Gertjie Besselsen (Mr Cat and the Jackal), Jacques du Plessis (Mr Cat and the Jackal), JC Visser (Mr Cat and the Jackal) and Margot van Wyk.
DJ Okapi (SOUTH AFRICA)
DJ Okapi digs up South African “bubblegum/disco” gems from the late 80 and early 90s, showcasing individual releases and collecting tracks onto mixtapes that he features on his Afro-Synth blog.

SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK® has maintained a rich and distinguished legacy as one of the most revered and treasured a cappella ensembles in contemporary music. Over the past four decades the Grammy Award nominated group has stayed true to its adventurous and diverse mixture of blues, African, jazz, gospel and R&B music.
DJ DANGER INGOZI (SOUTH AFRICA)
The ever-progressive DJ Danger Ingozi has been flexing his electroactive polymers with a high voltage selection of forward-thinking dance music, often infused with African, Baile, Balkan, Reggae, Tropicana and other World Beats.
FRESHLYGROUND (SOUTH AFRICA)
Fronted by the diminutive but dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band exudes a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success. Although hailing from diverse backgrounds, between them the band’s members weave a musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.
THE PARLOTONES (SOUTH AFRICA)
The Parlotones are one of the biggest rock bands to come out of South Africa. Having recently returned from a stint in the US,- The Parlotone’s share their latest material at MTN Bushfire 2015.
Amandla Freedom Ensemble (SOUTH AFRICA)
An urban arts music collective of young jazz musicians dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the South African music legacy.
Bashayi Bengoma Ensemble (SWAZILAND)
An ensemble of traditional Swazi music, performed by artists from across Swaziland will gather to perform old and news songs, with lyrics poetically speaking about life, love and beauty.
CULOE DE SONG (SOUTH AFRICA)
Top South African DJ and producer, Culoe de Song brings his energetic deep house set to the main stage of MTN BUSHFIRE 2015.
DJ Diloxclusiv (South africa)
DJ Diloxclusiv is pioneering a new sound of music called qhom music, which is originally from Durban. His sets blend a fusion Kwaito, House, Qhom and a mixture of SA Hip Hop making for an energetic and dynamicfestival experience.
