Parmalat Sponsors Family Friendly Programme at MTN BUSHFIRE
MTN BUSHFIRE is committed to creating an atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all ages – in 2012, this will include workshops by the Silent Conductor, the interactive KidZone, and the Giant Puppets of Mozambique.
Each year, MTN BUSHFIRE gathers a wide diversity of people from all across the world to collectively enjoy arts and cultural interaction. The festival, which takes place at the breathtaking House on Fire in Malkerns, Swaziland, attracts the young and old alike – indeed, a quick scan of the festival grounds will show that the festival hosts a range of ages, from tiny toddlers to the esteemed elderly. MTN BUSHFIRE strives to create a festival environment that can be appreciated by an audience of all ages – in addition to its soulful music, poetry, art, and dance, the festival will collaborate this year with Parmalat to provide strands and workshops that contribute to a family-friendly atmosphere.
It’s a fundamental comfort to know that your child, full of energy and life, will have a safe and enjoyable place to explore, create, and discover at MTN BUSHFIRE 2012. That’s why the festival has collaborated with Parmalat to create a dynamic, spirited KidZone, an exclusive kids-only area that welcomes imaginative enthusiasm. This year the KidZone will feature a multitude of artistic workshops, including sessions in gumboot dancing, drumming, and ceramics creation, as well as a harmonica workshop with internationally-recognized musician Adam Glasser. The KidZone also recognizes the importance of play, and will offer activities such as face painting that will spark the imaginative spirit within.
Also in line with the family-friendly character created at the festival is collaborative musical workshops led by Steve Barnett, a.k.a The Silent Conductor. Steve specializes in musical interaction between individuals – in fact, he uses music and rhythm rather than spoken word as the fundamental form of communication. This eventually leads to a joyful spectacle – children and their parents, persons from different cultural backgrounds, and the young and old establish connections through collectively created rhythms and cheerful laughter. Indeed, the inclusion of Steve Barnett in the Family Friendly Programme is truly a unique and wonderful addition to the festival. The Silent Conductor will be performing at MTN BUSHFIRE on Saturday, May 26 at 12:00 at the House on Fire Stage.
Also back again to inspire awe and fascination is the Giant Puppets of Mozambique, a towering display that entertains audiences of all ages. You can catch these manned puppets strolling around the festival grounds, eager to pose for pictures or captivate audiences with spectacular dance. The Giant Puppets are a sight at MTN BUSHFIRE that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, and undoubtedly add a certain air of magic to the festival. The Giant Puppets of Mozambique will be performing at MTN BUSHFIRE on Saturday, May 26 at 10:30 and Sunday, May 27 at 12:30 in the Main Stage Area.
MTN BUSHFIRE offers its thanks to Parmalat for making these strands and activities possible – in sponsoring, Parmalat helps to open up the festival to our children, working to establish a creative and artistic foundation on to which Swaziland’s future can grow. The festival will take place from the 25 – 27 of May at House on Fire, Malkerns, Swaziland. Tickets are available through many resources – at MTN Service Centers in Matsapha, Simunye, Mbabane, Manzini, and the Gables, through MTN Mobile Money, and through our webpage, www.bushfire.co.sz. Kids tickets are only E50 per day, and children under 5 get in for free!
We look forward to seeing you at the festival!
