APPLICATIONS FOR MTN BUSHFIRE SCHOOLS FESTIVAL ARTS FACILITATORS NOW OPEN!
Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and teaching them the beauty of the arts? Do you wish to empower teachers to encourage an environmentally sustainable lifestyle? Then this opportunity is for you!
The MTN Bushfire Schools Festival is calling on all artists and creatives to apply to be facilitators at the 2020 MTN Bushfire Schools Festival, which will be held from 25 – 28 May 2020 at House on Fire in the Malkerns Valley of Eswatini.
Facilitators participate in the Teachers’ Workshop and Students’ Workshop where they get to teach the Arts and showcase the MTN Bushfire Schools Festival theme through performance-related activities throughout the Festival. Aspects of the performing Arts explored by facilitators, include physical theatre, poetry, dance and music amongst others.
The theme for the 2020 MTN Bushfire Schools Festival is Environmental Sustainability. Through the #GREENYOURFIRE call to action, launched in 2016, MTN Bushfire has actively and consistently committed to encouraging and normalising an environmentally sustainable lifestyle for all. Starting from 2020, the festival will intensify the collective fight against plastic pollution by discouraging the persistent use and importation of single-use plastics in the festival’s trading spaces, camping areas, and activations.
This theme will find purchase in the MTN Bushfire Schools Festival and through student-driven performances and various workshops throughout the week. The Schools Festival will raise awareness on environmental issues and highlight the need for collective action in overcoming climate change.
The MTN Bushfire Schools Festival, supported by MTN Eswatini and the European Union (EU), works towards providing sustainable access to the arts and developing a unique platform for creative expression and dialogue for young people in the country. One of the core objectives of the Schools Festival is to support the new Arts Expression Syllabus in public schools in Eswatini by presenting creative performances, workshops, educational seminars and interactive outreach programmes for participants from primary schools, high schools as well as teachers throughout the country.
Applicants can send their CV and a Concept Brief detailing how, as a Facilitator, they would showcase the theme on Environmental Sustainability through training and performance-based activities, to Notsile Nkambule at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications close on 31 January 2020.
We look forward to seeing how you #LIGHTYOURFIRE at The MTN Bushfire Schools Festival in 2020!
