MTN Bushfire Schools’ Festival Facilitators Call Out

Created to counter the lack of a formal arts curriculum in eSwatini’s public schools, the MTN Bushfire High Schools’ Festival supported by MTN Bushfire, and the MTN Bushfire Primary Schools’ Festival supported by MTN Bushfire and the European Union, engage students from across the country in a week of interactive arts learning that precedes the main festival. The Schools’ Festivals combine the arts with social responsibility themes, to deliver a week of facilitator-led teacher and student workshops and performances.
The MTN Bushfire Schools’ Festival (20th-23rd May) is calling on all creative practitioners (Drama, Dance, Music, Poetry, Fine Arts) to apply to be facilitators at the 2019 MTN Bushfire Schools’ Festival.

The Theme for the 2019 MTN Bushfire Schools’ Festival is Child Social Protection. The foundation is laid for a child’s physical and mental health, affecting everything from longevity to the lifelong capacity to learn, from the ability to adapt to change as well as resilience against adverse circumstances. There are many sub themes within Child Social Protection that the Festival Explores such as Child labor, Children in contact with the law, Children with disabilities, Education, Health, Identity, Exploitation and Violence.

With this theme the Schools’ Festival aims to raise awareness on the Child Social Protection issues such as; Abuse: Emotional, financial, sexual, physical Neglect, Lack of legal status : no birth certificate, Child exploitation, Children with disabilities, Child headed families, Homelessness,Substance /drug abuse, Early marriage and Bullying/social media.
