MTN BUSHFIRE TO HOST ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT WORKSHOP FOR ESWATINI ARTISTS

MTN Bushfire’s commitment to empowering Eswatini artists goes beyond the inclusion of local musicians to the festival’s music line-up every year. The festival also supports the country’s emerging and profiled musicians through arts development and skillshare programmes.

In the spirit of contributing towards the advancement of Eswatini’s music industry, MTN Bushfire will be hosting an Electronic Press Kit Workshop on 12 and 13 November 2019 at the MTN head office, Mahlalekukhwini House, in Ezulwini.

An Electronic Press Kit (EPK) is a pre-assembled set of digitised promotional materials, consisting of an artist’s biography and highlighting their unique musical qualities and experience. It serves as a resume that artists can present to booking agents, promoters and members of the media for brand visibility and to maximise their chances of being booked for shows.

The EPK Workshop will be facilitated by seasoned event producer, artist manager and promoter, Jess White. With years of experience and successful names under his guidance, Jess White will share valuable insights on how to successfully package a captivating EPK.

Artists will be equipped with useful skills, such as how to draft an appealing biography, how to use social media as a tool to promote their music, and how to approach music festivals, managers and music labels.

An EPK is never complete without a professional picture. Therefore, one of Eswatini’s talented photographers, Shaun DeSousa, will take high-quality pictures of each artist during a photoshoot session on s day. This is to ensure that artists leave with a comprehensive, professional EPK.

Although the workshop will only accommodate a select number of Eswatini artists who have already been engaged, MTN Bushfire will be sharing an info pack to local artists who applied during the artist application process which was open from 1 August to 31 October 2019. The info pack will contain all the valuable information shared by Jess White and will serve as a valuable tool for artists looking to successfully assemble their own EPKs.

Local artists should also look out for the MTN Bushfire Arts Round Table workshop which takes place annually on the Friday of the 3-day MTN Bushfire festival. This is yet another arts development and skillshare programme which provides a platform for interactive discussions between artists from across the world and top industry professionals on how to succeed in the arts. Artists who wish to apply for the MTN Bushfire Arts Round Table should keep an eye out on MTN Bushfire’s social media platforms where more information will be made available in due time.
