Bushfire/House on Fire invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Communications Officer.

Job Overview

The Communications Officer will support the Communication processes leading up to MTN Bushfire, and year-round House On Fire communications, including but not limited to:

Reporting to the Director, the CO will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting in developing a general Marketing and Communications Strategy
  • Generating content and communicating messages in various media
  • Copywriting for all platforms, including website, social media, press releases, as well as company documents and reports when needed
  • Assisting in event concept research, development & planning
  • Promoting events using various platforms
  • Assist in maintaining the website and social media platforms
  • Managing relationships with local media
  • Liaising with PR companies
  • Assisting in creating marketing materials and communications tools
  • Assist in conceptualizing developing new designs and artwork as needed
  • Development and management of content roll out timeline
  • Interim Sales support – House On Fire
  • Event Management Support: Concepts development
  • Production Management Support for events and functions



  • A degree in Communications and/or at least 3 years’ experience in a Communications role
  • Good understanding of strategy, politics and positioning of messaging
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and siSwati
  • Good understanding of Swazi and regional context
  • Good knowledge of social media marketing tools and techniques, and other online platforms
  • Strong Graphic Design experience and capabilities are an advantage
