Every fire begins with a spark and your MTN Bushfire 2026 experience starts begins before the gates open.

From 29–31 May 2026, over 23,000 Fire Starters from more than 55 countries will gather at the iconic House On Fire in the Malkerns Valley, Eswatini, for three unforgettable days of music, art, culture and connection.

This year’s theme, Juncture of Hum, will unite us in purposeful celebration of the powerful energy we create when our voices, rhythms, cultures and communities come together as one.

Before you hit the road, pitch your tent, or step into the hum, here are a few important notes to keep your festival journey smooth.

LEAVE EARLY. ARRIVE EARLY.

Fire Starters are strongly encouraged to arrive from Thursday to avoid peak Friday congestion.

With 10,000 to 12,000 Fire Starters expected to travel into Eswatini by road over the festival weekend, significant congestion is anticipated at border posts and festival routes.

To beat the congestion and queues:

• Depart early, ideally between 5 AM and 6 AM.
• Prepare for heavy traffic at the Ngwenya/Oshoek Border Post.
• Consider alternative border posts where possible.

VUTS’UMLILO SHOWCASE FOR THURSDAY ARRIVALS

For those wise enough to arrive early and there is great wisdom in this, Thursday evening belongs to you.

Camping Fire Starters arriving from Thursday, 28 May gain exclusive access to the Vuts’Umlilo Opening Ceremony Showcase. This is an intimate first taste of the Juncture of Hum reserved for campers only. Consider it the opening note before the full orchestra arrives.

Ticket Entry & Safety Policy

• No tickets are sold at the gate. Come prepared.
• Limited Main Arena tickets are still available via Howler. To purchase tickets, visit https://www.bush-fire.com/tickets/
• MTN Bushfire does not recommend purchasing from third-party sellers. Only buy through official channels.
• Can’t attend? Use the official Howler Ticket Resale Platform. Don’t leave your ticket unused, pass the hum along.
• Suspect your barcode has been tampered with? Contact [email protected] immediately, before the festival.
• MTN Bushfire does not offer ticket refunds.

 

Register and Claim Your Complimentary Ticket

Register your complimentary tickets to avoid fraud as well as delays in wrist-banding. It’s quick and easy:

1. Look out for an email from [email protected] for confirmation with your complimentary ticket.
2. Sign up or log into Howler using the same email address.
3. Once logged in, click ‘REGISTER’ next to your MTN Bushfire 2026 ticket.
4. Fill in your personal details to complete registration.

Your ticket is linked to your Howler account to ensure a smooth cashless experience and easy cash-out of unspent funds after the festival.

The Malkerns Valley rewards the prepared. Pack smart and travel light, but don’t leave the essentials behind.

The Non-Negotiables

• Valid passport (and visa documentation if applicable).
• Festival ticket and camping ticket (on your phone or printed).
• Proof of yellow fever vaccination if travelling from a risk country.
• Unabridged birth certificates and parental consent affidavit (if travelling with minors).
• Relevant vehicle documentation.

 

Festival Essentials

• The Valley is beautiful, and the sun is real.
• Warm layers for cool evenings (13°C at night is not a drill).
• Mosquito repellent.
• Reusable water bottle and bags. Join our #GreenYourFire movement.
• Small daypack for the grounds.
• Comfortable, worn-in footwear. Your feet will thank you by Sunday.
• A portable phone charger (power banks are your best friend).

Leave These at the Car

• Liquids (not permitted at entry points).
• Your keys if you’re drinking. The Park n’ Ride shuttle is the smarter choice.
