Media accreditation applications for the 19th edition of MTN Bushfire, taking place from 29 – 31 May 2026, are now officially open.
MTN Bushfire invites applications from journalists, travel writers, photographers, videographers and bloggers from established and reputable national, regional, or international newspapers, magazines, news services, radio and television stations and networks, including relevant online publications. Stringers and freelancers with demonstrated placement are also encouraged to apply.
The final deadline for media accreditation applications is 8 May, 2026. Beyond this date, no further applications will be accepted or considered for the 2026 edition of the festival.
With its roster of international talent, and its innovative, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive programming, as well as its amazing spirit of diversity and celebration, MTN Bushfire is a major media event that attracts media practitioners and journalists from around the world.
Spaces are limited, so media are encouraged to apply early. Due to the volume of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted. Final media selections will be made at the festival’s discretion.
Applications can only be made through the Press Accreditation page on the MTN Bushfire website, where media are required to first fill out an application form provided by Eswatini’s Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) before the festival can confirm accreditation.
Accredited media will be able to attend media press conferences, request interviews with artists, and access the front of stage for photos and videos. Media practitioners will also have access to the onsite designated Media Village which serves as the official centre for media information and interviews, equipped with power and wireless internet, for a seamless, productive and collaborative working experience.
It should be noted that media accreditation does not include any travel or accommodation unless specifically pre-arranged with MTN Bushfire. Approved media practitioners are strongly encouraged to secure their accommodation bookings soon as nearby lodgings fill up quickly. Accredited journalists are welcome to consider purchasing camping or glamping passes.
One of the leading sustainable festivals in Africa, MTN Bushfire’s forward-thinking environmental and social policies earned the festival the “Best Responsible Event” award at the WTM African Responsible Tourism Awards, 2017. Named “Top African festival” by the BBC and hailed by CNN as one of the “7 African music festivals you really have to see,” MTN Bushfire is looking forward to reigniting the fire in the beautiful farmlands in the valley of Malkerns, Eswatini, for a family friendly, eclectic celebration of some of the finest music in Africa and beyond.
More information on accommodation options, including a list of possible places to stay, is available in the Plan section on the festival website, www.bush-fire.com/plan.
