MTN Bushfire festival, to be held from 27 to 29 May, 2022, is pleased to return once again to the beautiful Malkerns Valley with a 15th edition, after a two-year interruption caused by the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.
This uniquely African, yet globally infused, festival welcomes thousands of people in an atmosphere of inclusivity and passionate commitment to music, the arts and the environment. In the words of festival director Jiggs Thorne: “MTN Bushfire is a celebration of the human spirit and the joy of creative expression that seeks to encourage everyone to contribute and engage.”
Vaccine certificates
In the #BRINGYOURFIRE spirit of positive social change, MTN Bushfire has partnered with the Ministry of Health in Eswatini, and other key stakeholders to assist the national vaccination drive. This year, all festivalgoers will be required to provide valid proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 to enter the festival grounds, including the camping areas. This is a requirement for all ages eligible for vaccination, which in Eswatini is 12 years of age and up.
MTN Bushfire has taken this decision in conjunction with its partners as it is the best way to protect the health and safety of festivalgoers, artists, festival staff and the local communities.
Roadshows
In the run-up to the festival, a number of MTN Bushfire-themed Roadshow events will be held in Eswatini, where members of the public can get vaccinated or boosted against Covid-19, and be entertained by some of the best of Eswatini’s local DJ’s, as well as stand a chance to win great prizes, including tickets to the MTN Bushfire festival. These roadshows are brought to the public by MTN Bushfire and the Ministry of Health, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The MTN Eswatini team will be on hand to give you information on the value for money Toti Toti data bundles, which will also be available at the roadshows. Expert vaccination teams from the Luke Commission with on-site Ministry of Health guidance, will be on stand-by at the Roadshows to administer vaccinations and boosters, while USAID representatives will be on hand to give further information on the Covid-19 vaccines as well as advice on new and effective sexual health measures to prevent HIV infection.
The festival is not the only reason to get vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to effectively lower the risk of becoming infection, prevent the virus from spreading, and lessen COVID-19 related illness, hospitalisation, and death.
